Unlike extensions, where the hair is secured on a weft, each hair in a closure is ventilated into the base individually and then knotted with a sealant. Due to the delicate nature of closures, shedding and balding can come from simple day to day maintenance of the hairstyle, brushing/combing, to washing, scratching, and other handling that causes friction. Though closures, are meant to mimic the scalp they must be handled with the utmost care to maintain its construction. We find that the best measure to combat these issues is to use a sealant specifically designed for closures, such as “Walker Top Loc Knot Sealer” prior to and in between installation(s).
